CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - An event this week will help bring attention to hunger in our area.

The Empty Bowls event is happening Friday in Carson City. Participants are each invited to pick out a ceramic bowl, which is handcrafted by potters and local artisans. The bowl is then filled with food from local restaurants. Participants are asked to keep the bowl as a reminder that there are empty bowls in our community. A $15 donation is suggested and the money raised is donated to Friends in Service Helping (FISH), a local organization working to end food insecurity.

The Empty Bowls event takes place December 7, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Carson Mall, at 1227 S. Carson Street.

FISH is a 2018 KOLOCares Pillar Partner.
