Elko's Eldridge moves into first place in first rodeo performance

Reno, Nev. (KOLO) Elko's Dakota Eldridge had the fastest time of the night during the first Reno rodeo performance.

Eldridge finished his steer wrestling run in 4.2 seconds. His 9.1 second total on two rides has him in first place in the average.

It was a good night in the bareback, with four rides in the 80's. Seth Lee Hardwick had the best ride of the night, scoring an 84.5. Timberman Kelly is right on his heels with a first-round score of 83.5.

Chase Wiley and Martin Lucero had the top time in the team roping at 5.7 seconds. They were the only team of the night with a sub-ten second ride.

Cort Scheer nearly had the best ride of the night in the saddle bronc, scoring an 81 on his first round ride. Utah's Jake Wright edged him out for the best score of the go-round with an 81.5.

Kansas' Cody Quaney took the honors in the tie-down roping, finishing his ride in 8.7 seconds. That was nearly a second faster than everyone else in the go-round.

Jane Melby had the fastest run in the barrel race, finishing in 17.16 seconds. Her 34.66 second total on two rides has her in first place in the average.

It was a rough night in bull riding. Only one cowboy was able to hold on for eight seconds, with Dustin Boquet scoring an 80 on Little Jeffey.

The second Reno rodeo performance begins at 7pm on Saturday.
