RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- The reports Saturday are of long caucus lines on the first day of early caucus voting in Nevada.
The line of early voters at Washoe County Democratic headquarters.
Early voting takes place through Tuesday. The statewide caucus is February 22, 2020.
Voters can pick up to five candidates and rank them by preference. A voter’s first choice will count, unless that candidate did not receive at least 15 percent of the vote in the precinct, the Nevada Democratic Party noted. If not, the next ranked candidate is selected.
While up to five candidates can be submitted, voters must select at least three candidates, the party said. If a voter wishes, the second and third candidates can be listed as uncommitted.
Ranking five candidates does not weaken the voter’s No. 1 choice, the party said.
The early votes will be counted on caucus day.
