Dayton hit-and-run suspect sentenced to prison

YERINGTON, Nev. (KOLO) - The driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run in Dayton has been sentenced to prison.

On Tuesday, January 14, 2019, 39-year-old James Parisi of Dayton received the maximum sentence of 20 years after pleading guilty to one count of Duty to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Causing Death.

The crash happened early in the morning on August 15, 2019. Investigators say Parisi was driving up Six Mile Canyon Road when he veered over the center line, and hit and killed 59-year-old Michael Kuntz who was walking his dogs. Parisi then drove off.

Authorities found the vehicle involved in the crash and identified Parisi as the suspect. He was arrested shortly after.

Parisi will be eligible for parole after seven years.
