SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) With heavy snowfall over the weekend and heavy rain overnight, flooding concerns are presenting themselves around the Reno Sparks area.
“We are seeing snow dams blocking the flow of water,” said Ron Korman, Public Works Coordinator for the City of Sparks. “We’ve got crews out making sure water is flowing into drainage inlets.”
Korman says days like this are busy ones for public works crews, who are tasked with clearing up clogged storm drains.
“Plastic bottles get stuck in the drainage inlet outfall, “Korman explained, adding that older parts of town are more prone to flooding.
Korman also said that there is no sense of any imminent issues, but if they need to transfer resources over for the potential for flooding, they we will make that determination at that time.
