Emigrant Gap-area North Fire 100% contained

EMIGRANT GAP, Calif. (KOLO) The US Forest Service says the North Fire, burning in the area of the North Fork of the American River Canyon, is fully contained after burning about 1,120 acres. Containment was called late the night of September 16.

The fire was reported the afternoon of September 3, 2018 near Emigrant Gap, off Interstate 80 west of Reno. No cause has been determined.

Onion Valley Campground, North Fork Campground, and Tunnel Mills Campground continues to be closed. A portion of Forest Service Road 19 remains under a soft closure.
