Chinook Helicopter touches down at middle school

The Nevada National Guard touched-down a CH-47 Chinook helicopter at Eagle Valley Middle School in Carson City Tuesday.

The educational opportunity provided students with hands-on learning for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It also served as a post-Veterans' Day salute. In fact, it had been scheduled to be part of pre-Veterans' Day activities in Carson City, but high wind postponed it.

The aircraft flew over the school and after landing remained at the school for 90 minutes. This allowed students the opportunity to explore the twin-engine, tandem-rotor, heavy-lift helicopter and speak with the pilot and crew.
