SACRAMENTO, CA (KOLO) - The California Lottery reports that a winner has claimed a $2,399,925 prize for a winning Powerball ticket.
Mario Ramos-Munoz matched five of the six numbers from the May 22, 2019 drawing, missing only the red Powerball number.
Ramos-Munoz bought his ticket at the Hallelujah Junction Market in Chilcoot.
Ramos-Munoz told the California Lottery staff, he wants to start a carpet cleaning business, but there is no further information on his background.
California does not collect state taxes on lottery prizes, but winners must pay federal taxes.
The Hallelujah Lunction Market will also collect a retailer bonus of $11,999 for selling the winning ticket.
