CARSON CITY, NV (KOLO) - Court officials in Carson City are alerting the public about a scam.
Carson City Justice/Municipal Court was notified by members of the public that they had received multiple calls from people claiming to represent the court, trying to get personal information. One of the scammers claimed to be a relative who was arrested and needed money to bail out or pay court fines and fees.
As a reminder, court officials say if you receive an email or phone call from the Carson City Justice/Municipal Court or the First Judicial District Court claiming you owe money or need to pay money, consider it a scam.
Do not give callers your personal information. Hang up. If you are in doubt of whether you have a court matter, call the Carson City Justice Court Clerk's Office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at (775) 887-2121 option 4 or the First Judicial District Court Clerk’s Office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at (775) 887-2082 option 7.
