RENO, Nev. (KOLO)-- A driver went out of control and slid into a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper investigating a crash Sunday afternoon on Interstate 80, the NHP reports.

The trooper’s injuries are not life-threatening and he never lost consciousness, Trooper Matt McLaughlin says. It serves as a reminder to drive carefully in these conditions, McLaughlin said.

The trooper was investigating a rollover on westbound Interstate 80 near Virginia Street when a blue Chevrolet sedan being driven past the area slid broadside and hit the trooper, McLaughlin says.

The trooper was taken to a hospital.
