RENO, Nev. (KOLO) A promotion offered by a store at Meadowood Mall led to a longer line than anticipated.
This was the first time Build-a-Bear offered this deal which let customers buy a bear and pay their current age.
The chain that lets kids customize their own stuffed toys could not handle the crowds in some parts of the country and had to turn shoppers away.
“Usually they are like, $25, $35 for the character bears and he will get his for 1 dollar because it’s for their age, super good,” said customer Jessica Walton.
In Reno, the Build-a-Bear workshop at Meadowood mall just shut down the line around 4 p.m. on Thursday. The line was long all day. Within the first hour of the mall opening, more than 400 people were in line. Families told us they waited in line for four hours. Some kids, though, didn't mind.
“I’m happy because this is my favorite stuffed animal, like, I’ve been wanting this stuffed animal for a long time,” said Build-a-Bear customer Andrew Bolton.
