NIXON, NV (KOLO)-- The Black Mountain 2 Fire is contained at 730 acres, the Sierra Front Interagency Fire Dispatch Center said Saturday.
11:54 am a.m. Saturday update: The Deadwash Fire south of the Black Mountain 2 fire is contained at 16 acres, the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center reports.
9:05 a.m. Saturday update: The Black Mountain 2 Fire near Nixon is 40 percent contained and estimated to be 750 acres, according to Don Pelt, the emergency manager for the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe.
“It’s pretty much knocked down now,” Pelt said Saturday morning. “It’s mostly a mop-up operation.”
The fire may still be contained by 2 p.m. Saturday, Pelt said.
All highways in the area are now open.
The Deadwash Fire about 5 miles to the south, which also started on Friday due to a lightning strike, is now estimated to be 16.43 acres.
10:28 p.m. Friday update:The Black Mountain 2 fire near Nixon is expected to be contained Saturday at 2 p.m., the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District reported.
It estimated the fire to be 150 acres, less than the 500 acres reported by the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
Crews will continue operations overnight to burn fuels to limit the growth of the Deadwash Fire.
The highway between Wadsworth and Nixon remains closed.
10:08 p.m. update: The Deadwash Fire south of the Black Mountain 2 Fire is 50 acres, Crews will remain on the fire overnight.
8:44 p.m. update:The Black Mountain 2 Fire burning near Nixon is estimated to be 500 acres, the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center reports.

8:28 p.m. update:Crews are on the scene of the Black Mountain 2 Fire that closed the highway between Wadsworth and Nixon.
There is a second fire about 5 miles to the south called the Deadwash Fire.
There are no estimated sizes available for either fire.
7:10 p.m. update:The Nevada Department of Transportation reports Nevada 447, the road from Wadsworth to Gerlach, is closed in the Nixon area.
Additionally, the road from Nixon to Sutcliffe on the west side of Pyramid Lake is also closed.
Original story: Fire crews are responding to a fire along the highway that runs from Wadsworth to Gerlach.
The fire is in the Nixon area. Nevada 447 could be closed, the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe reported. The tribe said lightning started the fire.
The Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center said the fire was reported at 7:13 p.m.
