An autopsy report for former brothel owner Dennis Hof reveals he died from a heart attack.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office released the autopsy March 28, 2019.

Hof passed away October 16, 2018 at the Love Ranch brothel in Crystal, Nevada. He was 72 years old.

Hof ran for the Nevada Assembly in District 36 and won after his death. The county commissions for Nye, Lincoln and Clark counties appointed a replacement to fill the vacancy.

According to the Associated Press, Nye County Sheriff Lt. David Boruchowitz says an employee at the brothel called 911 late the morning of October 16, 2018 when Hof was found unresponsive and not breathing.

Campaign manager Chuck Muth tweeted, "Just arrived on-scene at Love Ranch Vegas. Dennis died quietly in his sleep. Ron Jeremy found him this morning when he went to wake him to go to a meeting in Pahrump."

Lyon County Manager Jeff Page issued this statement: "Lyon County expresses their condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Hof. Mr. Hof has been a long time businessman in Lyon County. He has contributed thousands of dollars to many charities over the years. He has been a controversial figure in local and state politics."

Hof was the owner of the Love Ranch, as well as the Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Lyon County's Mound House and other brothels around Nevada. He was frequently seen on the former HBO TV show "Cathouse."
