RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Patagonia is partnering with Vitalant to give back to the community.
Vitalant said they are in need of O negative blood and donations tend to drop around the holidays.
There is a constant need for regular blood supply as blood can only be stored for a limited time before use.
Patagonia said this is just 1 of 3 blood drives they help host every year.
Susan Young works at the Patagonia Service center.
She said around 35 to 40 people showed up Thursday.
"For each donation for a regular whole blood donation, it helps 4 people so that's pretty amazing," said Young. "Just for us to be able to help people and to give back for people is why we do it."
Yvonne Brioady has been donating blood for years.
"It makes me feel really good," said Brioady. "Every time I get a chance to do it, I do it, because I know it saves lives and I know that someday maybe if I'm in that situation, I'd like to be able to have blood as well."
Brioady said giving blood is a painless process that is fast and simple.
"Try it out they're very friendly inside and very patient," added Brioady. If you're afraid they make sure to take their time and explain everything to you. So after the first time its like a walk in the park."
