RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District has prepared a Preliminary Environmental Assessment for the Washoe County School District Sun Valley School Campus Project. The project area is in Sun Valley, north of Reno in Washoe County, north of Highland Ranch Parkway and Donatello Drive. Public comments will be accepted through August 15, 2017.

The PEA analyzes the direct, indirect, and cumulative effects from issuing a Recreation & Public Purposes Act (R&PP), and eventual patent, of 80 acres of public land to the school district. The district wants to build a new middle school, with a tentative time frame of starting construction in late 2017.

A copy of the EA is available at the Carson City District BLM Office and on the Project webpage here.

Please send written comments to: Garrit Buma, Sun Valley School Campus Project Lead, Sierra Front Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Road, Carson City, NV 89701.
