Arrests down, citations spike for 2019 Santa Crawl
Misdemeanor arrests for the 2019 Reno Santa Crawl dropped, but citations spiked, according to Reno Police Department figures released Sunday.
Reno police said there was 15 misdemeanor arrests and 19 misdemeanor citations during the 18th annual Santa Crawl from Saturday night into Sunday morning, in which celebrants dress up as Santa or in other Christmas-theme costumes and go bar hopping.
Last year there 25 misdemeanor arrests and four misdemeanor citations.
In both years, there were three felony arrests. This year the felony arrests were all drug-related.
This year, there were three misdemeanor arrests for domestic battery, two arrests each for obstructing and resisting, driving under the influence and possessing an open container of alcohol in public and four people were picked up for having arrest warrants.
There were six citations for failing to obey a don’t walk sign, five for smoking marijuana in public, four for having an open container of alcohol and one each for jaywalking, parking in the road, being an ex-felon failing to register and possession of drug paraphernalia.
