SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - A generous KOLO 8 viewer is at it again. Three times in the past few years, the viewer has sent cashier's checks to KOLO 8 News Now to present to individuals or groups with financial needs.

An anonymous donor gave the VFW Post 3396 $675 for their team to attend the Bataan Memorial Death March.

This week, the viewer sent another check and instructions to deliver it to VFW Silver State Post 3396. The instructions call for the check to be used to support the VFW Post's teams that are participating in the annual Bataan Memorial Death March, which commemorates the forced march by American prisoners of war who were captured by the Japanese during the defense of the Philippine Islands during World War II.

The 26-mile march takes place at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico in March.

Greg Aragon, VFW Post 3396 Commander, says the participants "do it because it's a good time for us to visit ... talk ... we have a good time while we're doing it and we share stories that we might not otherwise share."

The march participants come from both the Reno Sparks area and from Las Vegas.

While the donor remains anonymous, the gift is certainly appreciated by the VFW.
