RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -- The American Heart Association kicked off their 2020 'Go Red for Women' campaign.

150 people were at The Grove in south Reno, including Governor Steve Sisolak and First Lady Kathy Sisolak.

The First Lady shared her insights about heart disease and Governor Sisolak shared with us tips on how people can stay healthy.

"People don't understand that heart disease takes more women's lives than all forms of cancers combined,” said Governor Sisolak. “There is something we can do about it that is preventable, when you get into diet, get into lifestyle get into exercise and get into regular checkup. Those are kind of the things we can have control on."

The upcoming year's message shared during the breakfast was “Shift into a healthier you” and “Be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives."

The annual ‘Go Red Luncheon’ will be held in late February 28, 2020.
