CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - Now that Clark County's votes have officially been reported to the Secretary of State's Office, some close statewide races that were not immediately clear have come to light.
Democratic former Treasurer Kate Marshall has won her race for Lieutenant Governor, beating Republican state Senator Michael Roberson 50% to 43%. Current Lieutenant Governor Mark Hutchison did not run for re-election.
Incumbent Republican Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske has beaten Democratic Assemblyman Nelson Araujo to keep her seat, 48.90% to 48.25%.
Democratic state Senator Aaron Ford has beaten Wes Duncan, a former Assemblyman and assistant Attorney General, 47% to 46% to be the next Attorney General, replacing Republican Adam Laxalt, who lost his race for Governor.
Incumbent Controller Ron Knecht, a Republican, has been ousted by Democrat Catherine Byrne 50% to 46%. Byrne is a CPA who worked in the controller's office.
The new state treasurer will be Democrat Zach Conine, a former casino director of operations and business consultant who beat Republican former state Senator Bob Beers 47% to 46% to succeed outgoing Treasurer Dan Schwartz, who lost a primary race for Governor.
