ATF, gun group offer rewards for Silver Springs gun burglary

SILVER SPRINGS, NEV. (KOLO)-- About 100 guns were stolen from a Silver Springs gun dealer in December and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the National Shooting Sports Foundation are offering a combined $15,000 reward for information about the theft.

The burglary happened between Dec. 10 and Dec. 13 at Collectors Arms Trading Company at 2585 Ramsey-Weeks Cutoff, the ATF said Thursday in a statement The doors were forced open and locks were cut, the ATF reported.

Sixteen guns have been recovered so far. The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said two people have been arrested for a variety of charges, including having guns stolen in the theft.

The ATF did not immediately provide a description of the types of guns stolen.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which the NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.
