RENO, NV - The Reno Initiative for Shelter and Equality, known as RISE, fed more than 300 homeless people Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015.
RISE feeds the homeless near the shelter on Record Street three Saturdays out of the month.
KOLO 8 employees were also there Saturday to give a helping hand and here's what some of the volunteers and recipients had to say:
"Beyond just sharing food, we are sharing smiles and it is touching human lives. It is letting them know people do care. And if it is just one hour out of the day, so they don't feel invisible."
"It is tough because you see people of all ages, all types of people are out here, all types of people are in need in our community. As a parent, I got kids and just thinking about kids not having anything to eat. It just hurts my heart."
