RENO, Nev. (KOLO) 5.11 Tactical in Reno offers monthly courses to help people prepare in case of an emergency. This month's course, "Trauma Care", focused on teaching people how to treat minor to life-threatening injuries.
"If something God-forbid were to happen in the community they could really step up and be that deal maker that could really save someones life," Lucas Reddig, 5.11 assistant manager, says.
The goal of the "Always Be Ready" courses are to help make sure people are prepared if things take a turn for the worse.
"It's better to be prepared or have to make do, or to suddenly have to come up with an amazing save like a MacGyver," Reddig says.
The courses are free and open to the public.
Michaela Cook says she took the course to make sure she is ready for anything.
"I just want to be more prepared if I come up on a car accident or an emergency; I want to know exactly what to do and not hesitate," Cook says.
