RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - December 1:

Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is asking community members to donate pre-filled Christmas stockings for children ranging in age from infants to 17 years old. The goal is to distribute stockings to more than 800 children in need in Washoe County and across northern Nevada.

Donations are accepted through December 15.

Catholic Charities will hand out a large portion of the stockings at its annual Operation Stocking Stuffer holiday party Sunday, December 17, and plans to continue providing stockings to community partners in rural Nevada for children in outlying communities. Many of the children the group serves are homeless, living in low-income housing complexes, or residing temporarily in local motels or emergency shelters.

Catholic Charities is asking for pre-filled Christmas stockings that include toys, treats, etc. for the children served by Catholic Charities & the St. Vincent’s Programs. It will be distributing stockings to the following age groups: 0-2, 3-5, 6-9, 10-12 and 13-17. Please label the stocking with intended age and gender.

Stockings can be dropped off at St. Vincent’s Thrift Shop at 500 East Fourth Street (corner of Fourth and Valley) in Reno, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For information about other drop-off locations, click here. Accepted also will be toys, candy, and cash donations to use toward filling empty stockings. Please do not wrap the items placed inside the stockings. No perishable food please.

Anyone who makes a donation for Operation Stocking Stuffer will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a 1-year membership to Double Diamond Athletic Club (valued at $1,500).
