RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - One in eleven Nevada adults in 2016 was a veteran, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates. The 9.2 percent of the Nevada’s adult population who are veterans ranked 13th nationally.
About 80,721, or almost 40 percent of state’s 208,263 veterans, served in the Vietnam era, the bureau estimates. That ratio of Vietnam vets ranks ninth nationally among states.
About one in five veterans served between the first Gulf War and before the Afghanistan War, the bureau estimates. Slightly less served since the war in Afghanistan.
In 2016, an estimated 4,978 World War II veterans lived in Nevada.
