WCSD looking to fill 100 teacher aides & teacher assistant positions
The Washoe County School District (WCSD) announced 100 open positions for teacher aides and teacher assistants.
WCSD says teacher aides and teacher assistants will work directly with students in the special education programs across the district.
The district attributes the low unemployment rate and fierce competition for qualified employees as the reason for the shortage. School officials are seeking applicants for Teacher Aide 2, Teacher Aide 3, and Teacher Assistant 2 positions.
WCSD is hosting an information and application session on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 1150 Matley Lane in the Nevada Lab from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Soon-to-be employees will have the opportunity to fill out applications, and representatives from WCSD Talent Acquisition and Human Resources will be available to answer questions.
The following requirements are in place for the available positions:
- Teacher Aide 2 applicants are required to have a high school diploma
- Teacher Aide 3 candidates are required to have at least 48 college credits OR have passed the Praxis Para-Professional Assessment
- Teacher Assistant 2 candidates are required to have at least 48 college credits (or have passed the Praxis Para-Professional Assessment) and at least one year of experience OR a high school diploma and at least two years of experience
