WASHOE COUNTY, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe County School District will discuss names Wednesday for the new school at Wildcreek and the new Career & Technical Education campus that will be located at Hug High School.

A meeting will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Washoe County School District Administration at 425 E. Ninth Street at 5:30PM.

The School Naming Committee plans to meet on November 6 to narrow the list of submissions to three finalists before presenting the list to the Board of Trustees on November 12 for final consideration and a scheduled vote.

On Thursday, October 3, 2019, the Capital Funding Protection Committee—which oversees the District’s capital expenditures—will meet to set the construction budget for the high school at Wildcreek.
Working with the architect, general contractor, and third-party cost estimators, the District says staff members have proposed a budget of $235 million for construction and all related costs for the Wildcreek project.

Thursday's meeting will take place at Desert Skies Middle School at 7550 Donatello Drive in Sun Valley at 4PM.

If approved by the Capital Funding Protection Committee, the construction budget will be forwarded to the WCSD Board of Trustees for final approval. If approved by the Board of Trustees, the project will then begin a public bidding process.

Both meetings are open to the public.
