SPONSORED: The RTC is getting ready to start the next phase of construction on the Virginia Street Project on June 17, 2019. The RTC strives to minimize the impacts of construction to businesses and residents. Right now, the RTC is in between construction phases, but people can expect cones back in Midtown soon.
The RTC has a strategy to help make construction a little easier on the businesses in Midtown. They will be starting at Mt. Rose Street and working their way down to Plumb, while simultaneously doing construction on side streets in Midtown. This will free up some parking on side streets as the RTC continues work on Virginia Street from Mt. Rose to Center and then Center to Liberty.
The first part of the project was utility work, which was largely underground. The next phase of the project is where the community will really start to see the transformation take place, with features like wide sidewalks, new pavement, lighting and safety improvements. The RTC will also be adding about 240 new trees to the Virginia Street corridor.
The RTC is committed to keeping the lines of communication open with the community, and there are a number of ways to get project information. Head to VirginiaStreetProject.com to get an overview of the project and sign up for stakeholder updates or text alerts. The RTC also has project meetings and office hours for the community to attend to learn about the project and ask questions.
