Due to modified business operations, the RTC was successfully able to complete paving operations in the Midtown part of the project.

Virginia Street is back open to one-way southbound traffic within the construction zone. Even though Midtown paving is done, the RTC still needs to finish center median work, landscaping, roadway striping and final utility work.

Virginia Street is anticipated to reopen to two-way traffic in Midtown in August, when construction is expected to be substantially complete. That’s three months ahead of schedule.

Construction is also continuing on Virginia Street by the University. The RTC is making a number of improvements to this area through the construction project, including better access to transit, safety improvements, wider sidewalks and landscaping. We’ll also be adding a roundabout just past Lawlor events center by the parking garage. This part of the project is expected to be complete later this fall.
