SPONSORED: The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe has begun the design phase of the Sun Valley Transportation Improvements Project and is seeking community input throughout the design process.
The project will increase safety in the area and benefit drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users. Improvements to the four-mile corridor include adding Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks, accessible bus stops and new bike lanes to make the roadway safer for all users starting at Clear Acre Lane between Scottsdale Road and Dandini Boulevard/El Rancho Drive continuing north along Sun Valley Boulevard to Highland Ranch Parkway.
Final project design is anticipated in December 2020. After the design is complete, the project will progress to the construction phase. The earliest construction could begin is spring of 2021.
The total project investment, including construction, design, permitting and construction management, is approximately $50 million. At this time, the project is primarily funded with local fuel tax revenue.
