The Road Ahead with RTC: RTC Annual Report
Your RTC working with the public is making improvements to our community’s transportation systems.
The RTC is proud of the investments they have made in the Truckee Meadows to improve transportation safety and mobility for our residents and visitors. In 2018, the RTC invested more than $114 million dollars on our regional roadways, improving them for people who walk, bike, drive and take transit. The RTC also made major investments in its transit system.
During the last year, the RTC opened the SouthEast Connector – easing congestion on the Spaghetti Bowl, and also completed the 4th Street/Prater Way Bus RAPID transit project. The new corridor is safer for everyone and now it’s ADA accessible. The new RAPID Lincoln Line was introduced and has become one of RTC’s most-used transit routes. The RTC is helping to get people where they need to go. That’s especially important as our community grows.
The RTC has an outstanding public outreach program in place, and they demonstrate that year over year. They conducted more than 200 outreach events over the past fiscal year. The RTC is in our community, listening to residents and stakeholders, and using that input to make major road and transit improvements throughout our region.
Coming up, the RTC will be working to complete phase two of the Virginia Street Project to improve safety and transportation in Midtown and by UNR. They are also working to complete the design on the Sun Valley corridor, the Oddie/Wells corridor, as well as some other projects designed to help improve transportation in our region, including a new microtransit program coming this fall.
