The Road Ahead with RTC: Oddie/Wells Project Meeting
The RTC just finished a preliminary design plan for our Oddie Wells Project. The project will focus on creating safer streets that are more inviting for families, bicyclists and pedestrians. The RTC’s goal is to increase safety and mobility options along this heavily used corridor.
As the RTC makes this corridor safer and more inviting, they will be adding things like wider sidewalks, bike lanes, and even new landscaping features. This area is part of our community’s revitalization and the RTC is focused on making this corridor even more vibrant.
As the RTC goes through the design process, they are looking at potentially adding a center median for safety. The RTC may add a raised cycle track or buffered bike lanes, new trees, new xeriscaping for our high-desert climate, and new LED street lights. Now that there is a preliminary design, the RTC is looking for input from the community.
The RTC invites everyone to learn more about the project at a community meeting on Thursday, March 28 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Washoe County Senior Center, located at 1155 East 9th Street. There will be a formal presentation at 6 p.m. for the public to give input on the preliminary design.
The RTC has a few more steps to complete before construction begins, including continuing outreach to residents and businesses, and working with our regional partners. Construction could start as early as 2020 on this 30-million-dollar investment in our community.
