The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is encouraging the community to complete the 2020 Census. Nevada receives federal funding based on a complete count and more than $67 billion over 10 years is at stake. This critical funding goes to help people in our community with Medicaid, Medicare, nutrition and transportation services for seniors, education, highway funding, and more.

The RTC uses Census data for transportation-planning purposes. The data is used to forecast future vehicle traffic, to identify transit-dependent populations for future transit planning, and to determine average vehicle occupancy and how people commute to work. The RTC also uses Census data to ensure projects do not disproportionately impact specific demographics, including low-income areas of our community.

For every Nevadan who is counted, Nevada receives $20,000 per person during the next 10 years. The Census deadline has been extended to mid-August 2020, so there is plenty of time for Nevadans to complete the Census.

The easiest way to compete the Census is to go online to
