RENO, NV (KOLO) - Through June 2, Smith’s Food & Drug is hosting its annual fundraising campaign to benefit Renown Children’s Hospital. Since 2014, Smith’s has donated $433,000 and the managers and associates are looking forward to another record-breaking year.
“Renown Children’s Hospital is so appreciative of community corporate partners like Smith’s Foods for their work in raising money to support the care and well-being of children in the communities we serve,” says Larry Duncan, Vice President and Administrator for Renown Children’s Hospital. “Without community driven philanthropic support, Renown Children’s Hospital would struggle to provide the broad array of services that allow the vast majority of children to be cared for locally. Renown Children’s Hospital thanks Smith’s Foods for their continued dedication to the children of the community.”
In 2018, Smith’s donated $125,000 to Renown Children’s Hospital. These donations are possible because of the round-up opportunity at the check-out stands and donation cards at the front of the stores, and also due to some unique opportunities. Some of the fundraising efforts include a golf tournament hosted at Red Hawk Golf Course May 17, a car show hosted at Summit Racing May 11, a hot dog cart at the Dayton Smith’s, and a root beer float drive at the Lemmon Valley Smith’s.
Smith’s welcomes the community to support the donation drive to benefit our community through June 2. Apart from the dedicated community involvement from the valued shoppers at Smith’s stores, the associates provide payroll deductions to benefit the Children’s Hospital and raised $2,400.
“These funds stay in northern Nevada,” says Jason Kiserow, District Manager for Smith’s Food & Drug. “By contributing money to this fundraiser our community and our store associates are supporting our friends and neighbors. Renown Children’s Hospital has an amazing facility and it is dedicated to serving the children in our area. Our Smith’s team is excited every year to participate in this drive and we look forward to surpassing our donation from last year.”
As the only dedicated children’s hospital in northern Nevada, Renown Children’s Hospital cares for more than 26,000 children each year. The donations allow Renown Children’s Hospital to assist families who need financial assistance associated with their child’s medical expenses.
