RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Red Shoe Gala, the annual fundraiser benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities will be held Friday, October 4 from 6PM to 9PM at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

The event will have a superhero theme, and guests are encouraged to wear superhero-inspired evening wear for a night designed to raise money for the charity’s work to keep families close during their children’s hospitalization.

“Our Red Shoe Gala is an opportunity for the community to get a closer look at the programs and families they are supporting throughout the year,” said Laurie Gorris, Executive Director of RMHC® Northern Nevada. “We rely heavily on local fundraising to ensure that we can continue serving families 365 days of the year.”

The Red Shoe Gala: House of Heroes begins with a cocktail reception. There will be silent auction prizes and a special prize for the table exhibiting the best Superhero-inspired evening wear. The dinner and program will start shortly after 7PM where attendees will learn more about how their support directly affects families who find themselves in need of the Ronald McDonald House through family stories and anecdotes and the recognition of special guests throughout the program.

“The families we serve are our heroes, and provide the staff and volunteers with inspiration on a daily basis,” said Gorris. “We’re proud we can be there for them and excited to share their resilience and strength with our gala attendees.”

Registration is now closed. But the community can still participate in the silent auction which will be open until 8 p.m. You do not need to attend to participate in that portion of the event.

Money raised will support the Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Nevada programs: the Ronald McDonald House®, Travel-for-Treatment, RMHC® Northern Nevada Scholarship Program, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® and the Ronald McDonald Family Room®.

The Ronald McDonald House® is home-away-from-home for up to 12 families at a time. The organization supports more than 800 families each year.
