RENO, NV (KOLO) Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) will host a multi-group fundraiser Saturday, June 22 from 11-4 at the Campus Commons Complex at 18603 Wedge Parkway.

The fundraiser will help the group build its new sanctuary in Stagecoach, and will help dogs and cats from area shelters that are facing euthanasia.

The rescue organization currently has no way to house at-risk animals long-term, and relies on its network of dedicated foster families. The sanctuary will allow the group to rescue more death row dogs and cats, evaluate them, and vet them before placing them with loving foster families and ultimately in permanent homes.

W.A.R.F. has also teamed up with the Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund, another all-volunteer organization dedicated to protecting the wild horses of the Virginia Range and the surrounding areas. A portion of the Stagecoach sanctuary property will be devoted to creating a temporary holding area for wild horses rounded up and otherwise destined for slaughter until they can be vetted and sent to a long-term sanctuary or placed with safe and loving horse families.

The event will be a collaboration of several local non-profit groups. Nevada Health Coalition will have a table providing information about early detection and screenings. Nevada Health Centers will have its mammovan available from 8-4. For appointments and further information, call (877)-581-6266. There will also be local dog rescue organizations, including Devlin’s Dream and Ruff Riders, Saving Dogs on Death Row. Other groups participating include 7-Leaf Labs, Dog Paw Prints, and Lucky 7 Tattoo. The event is sponsored by Summit Insurance, an Allstate company.

In addition to meeting rescued dogs and visiting cancer awareness groups, you can enjoy beer on tap provided by New West Distributing and hosted by BeerNV; wine from Pope Valley Winery; and music starting with kid’s band Kai and the Monsters, followed by a local favorite, Jacked Up.

Tattoo artists from Lucky 7 Tattoos will offer a breast cancer ribbon or pawprint tattoo onsite for a $60 donation. A raffle will be held with lots of fun prizes included animal gear and goodies, gourmet baskets, and more. Kids and dogs are welcome, too.

WARF is raising funds to establish a sanctuary, for both adoptable pets and for animals unable to be placed into a permanent home. WARF commits to its rescues over the course of the animal’s entire life, and a sanctuary will allow the group to extend that help to many more.

In addition to the June fundraiser, the group is seeking assistance with infrastructure, fencing and animal habitats.
