"We're providing a free meal to the whole entire community," Christopher Hall, of the Salvation Army, says. "Whoever wants to come down, we'll have homeless people, seniors that may not have family at home anymore and just anybody in the community that just needs a hot plate today."
Harrah's Reno provided the meals at the Salvation Army feeding.
Over at the Gospel Mission, families were treated with a visit from Santa in addition to a hot meal, toys for the kids, hygiene kits, blankets, gloves and hats.
"I love to see the people coming through," Tammy Treadwell, of the Gospel Mission, says. "They're just so grateful and they smile and they're blessed and they're happy that they're getting something and they know that somebody cares about them at Christmas."
