SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) is hosting its 12-hour Know The Gold Radiothon Fundraiser Friday at Scheels in Sparks. NNCCF have been fundraising the last five months to reach its goal of $400,000.
All proceeds will help local children battling cancer. According to NNCCF’s Shirley Folkins Roberts, the funds will specifically help families with financial and emotional support.
"When a family is hit with a childhood cancer diagnosis, they are ripped out of their world sometimes, they have to travel from Dayton to Renown every day and sometimes they have to travel to other areas for other treatment, and they are not prepared for that."
She added, “Almost always one parent has to stop working, so either you go from a two income household to a one, or to a one income household, to no income.”
Every dollar up to $400,000 will be matched by the William Pennington Foundation.
The organization will be at Scheels until 6 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2020 and walk-ins are welcome.
To donate, you can call 775-351-1064 or visit www.NVChildrensCancer.org.
