RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Lexie's Prom Boutique made a last-minute decision Saturday to open for one extra day, even though February 28 was the last announced day. That meant more local teens could drop by and pick out free prom dresses or tuxedos before the organization packed up for the season at Shoppers Square.
Barbie Marcoe, founder of Lexie’s Gift, said volunteers were able to help 40 high school students on the final day. She says it has been a heartwarming experience.
One of the teenagers who dropped by Saturday was 17-year-old Justina Contreras, who is a junior at Reno High School. She says it was an incredible experience.
"I just had a lot of fun," she says. "Everyone here was super welcoming. They were very very supportive, no matter what dress I chose."
Lexie's Prom Boutique has helped more than 400 local students since it opened at Shoppers Square in January. It is a 2019 KOLOCares Pillar Partner.
