Dog saved from euthanasia, in need of new home

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Pilgrim is a 13-month old boxer-lab mix, that's in need of a fresh start and a new home.

'We got an emergency text," said Boxers and Buddies founder Sarah Anderson. "They actually texted me directly saying can you take this boy."

He was found as a stray in California, then red-listed by the shelter that took him in. He had 48 hours until he was going to be euthanized.

"When we got him he was covered in mange," continued Anderson. "He was missing most of the hair on his face and some on his body."

It took three weeks for his coat to come back, and has now started to come out of his shell.

"He's come such a long way," admitted Anderson. "When we got him he was shy. The first picture I have of him, he was curled up in his transport just shaking. And now he's outgoing. He's happy. He loves people."

He also loves other dogs and kids too. And ideally, he'd be adopted by active owners.

"Someone who could run him every day. People who want to take him camping and hiking. He's a super active happy dog. So he's not going to be a couch potato. He will curl up with you and cuddle, but after he's had a little bit of exercise."

You can see Pilgrim and all of the other dogs that are up for adoption by going to Boxers and Buddies.
