RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Charged with raising funds to receive a $35,000 donation from the WHC Foundation, Shakespeare Animal Fund, a local non-profit that pays emergency veterinary care for elderly, disabled and other low income people whose pets are suffering or dying and they can’t afford treatment, raised $65,000 and received $35,000 in November.

“We’re delighted with this grant,” says Jennifer Webb, founder of Shakespeare, “and because of this donation we will finally be able to start an endowment, in order to continue helping local animals for many years to come.”

Founded in 2004, Shakespeare Animal Fund was created in honor of Webb’s cocker spaniel Shakespeare, and the organization has raised more than $750,000 to date to help get suffering animals needed veterinary care. The WHC Foundation is a private non-operating foundation that exclusively helps other non-profits devoted exclusively to animal welfare.
