Get to know Kelsey!
Kelsey Marier became a Producer/Reporter at KOLO 8 News Now in October 2018. Before coming to KOLO, she worked at WCTV, the CBS-affiliated station in Tallahassee, Florida.
Before moving to the Sunshine State, Kelsey graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor Degree in Journalism and Arts in Media. She scored her first job out of college at WDIO, the ABC-affiliated station in Duluth. Champlin, Minnesota is where she called home before heading north to college.
Ever since she was little, Kelsey knew she wanted to work in news. She has a strong passion for writing and telling people's stories. In high school, Kelsey starred on the daily news program and worked for the school's newspaper and yearbook. In college, she interned for a radio station in Minneapolis and a writer's blog in Duluth. She also produced a first-of-its-kind video report series for the university's student-run news website, LakeVoice. Kelsey is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Phi Sigma Sigma international social sorority.
Outside of work, a perfect day in Kelsey's world would start with a great cup of coffee or tea and a delicious brunch, accompanied by her closest friends. Then, an afternoon of exploring the outdoors, preferably with a dog near a lake or snowboarding in the mountains. Later, maybe a bit of retail therapy or perhaps reading a good thriller in a cozy chair, followed by a homemade meal surrounded by family. Kelsey is a foodie and is constantly taking food or restaurant recommendations. She will also always ask to pet your cat or dog, as she has a strong love for animals.
