Meet Bridget!

Bridget Chavez is a multimedia journalist with a passion for storytelling. She joined the KOLO 8 News Now team in October 2017 after spending time as a Washington reporter for KOLR-10 News in Springfield, MO and KARK in Little Rock, AR.

Bridget graduated with a Master of Science in Broadcast & Digital Journalism from Syracuse University. During her time at Syracuse, Bridget covered the 2016 presidential election and NCAA Division I sports, and anchored and reported for the New York AP award-winning student-run morning television program, “Mornings on the Hill.” Bridget also worked as the on-field host for the Triple A Syracuse Chiefs baseball team.

Originally from Belen, New Mexico, Bridget graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2014 with double majors in Journalism and Political Science. After graduation, she decided to join the service program “Teach for America” and taught special education for two years in San Jose, CA. She earned a Master of Arts in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University and although she enjoyed her time in the classroom, journalism is what she has always been passionate about.

Bridget is a huge people person and believes everyone has a story to tell. She has covered news, sports, politics and everything in between. She shoots, writes, edits and produces her own stories.

During her free time, you can find her reading a book, snowboarding, playing with her kitten, working out, traveling or exploring new hiking and running trails. She loves coffee and spending time with family and friends. Bridget is thrilled to be in Reno.

If you have any story ideas or news tips, feel free to contact her through email or Facebook.
