Meet Ben!

Ben Deach was born in Monterey, California, but has called Reno home most of his life. After graduating from McQueen High School in 2003, he attended the journalism program at the University of Nevada, where he graduated in May 2007.

While he was still in college, Ben took a job broadcasting Wolf Pack women’s basketball games on radio. He also served as the fill-in play-by-play man for the Nevada baseball team for several years after that.

Ben also handled the play-by-play duties for the Reno Silver Sox of the Golden Baseball League from 2007-2008. The first year he only did radio, but the second year he also served as the team’s assistant general manager. Ben also did play-by-play for the Reno Aces for parts of their first 3 seasons.

After 2 years of filling in hosting sports talk radio, Ben got his own show in 2008. He started out doing one hour per day, then two, then three, then four. He would continue hosting sports talk radio in Reno until the end of 2014.

In early 2015 he made the switch to television. After working for a year as a morning show producer, he was pleased to get become a morning reporter at KOLO 8, and now is the weekend anchor!

Ben lives in Reno with his wife Debbie, their dog Leo, and cat Oliver. Ben is a huge San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan, and when he is not working, he enjoys playing poker, basketball, and golf… as well as catching up on episodes of “Jeopardy.”
