Wind throughout much of Northern Nevada and parts of the Sierra are decreasing Tuesday evening as a system moves southward. We’ll have a short reprieve from those winds before they return Wednesday ahead of this week’s second system. Wednesday in Reno will see a high of 63 degrees and some breezy conditions. The next system is expected Wednesday into Friday and could bring more than a foot of snow to areas near the Tahoe Basin.

Over the next week, we can expect to see two systems. The first will come Monday night into Tuesday and bring winds and possible precipitation to our area. Winds of up to 35 miles per hour are expected in Northern Nevada with four to twelve inches of snow expected along Donner Summit. Four to seven inches are expected over Echo Summit along U.S. 50. The next storm is expected Wednesday night into Friday. It’s expected to be colder and will bring more precipitation than the first system.

Record highs are still in the forecast Friday and Saturday. Thursday’s record was broken by about 5 degrees as we hit 80 degrees in Reno. It’s the earliest we’ve had an 80 degree day since 2015. Friday we’re expecting a high of 81 degrees. The record is currently 78 degrees. Sunday evening will see a system move into our area that could potentially bring some rain or snow with it. As of Friday morning, there is a 60% chance, but this storm isn’t expected to be a big one and it is quick moving.

Wednesday saw a record high and Thursday’s looking no different. We’re expecting a high of 78 degrees today, 3 degrees higher than the record set in 1960 and 2007. Temperatures on Friday and Saturday will also threaten to break records, then we’ll see a system come in and cool down the area. The system has a 40% chance of bringing rain to our area on Monday with a 20% chance on Tuesday.

Multiple days during the remainder of the week could reach record highs. Wednesday will be clear and sunny with a high near 77 degrees. The current record is 76 degrees in 1960. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will also near records with temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s. Sunday will see a cool down as a system comes into our area. Chances are low this storm will bring precipitation, but it will cool Northern Nevada down after these very warm temperatures.

Friday saw a high of about 67 degrees with some variable cloud coverage. It’s the calm before the storm as we’re expecting a quick moving storm on Saturday. It will bring about 3 to 6 inches of snow to the Sierra and rain in the valley. It will also bring winds of 25 to 40 miles per hour. Those will stick around until about Monday evening. Sunday may see some rain in the morning, but the chance of that is 20%. Monday will be the start of a dry stretch where we’ll see some temperatures slightly above the average this time of year.

Thursday was mild with a good amount of cloud coverage. These clouds should leave our area later in the evening. Friday will see a high of 67 degrees and will look much like it did Thursday. Then on Saturday, a storm will come into our area with an 80% chance of precipitation in the afternoon. Sunday will be another cool day, before we enter a week of dry conditions and temperatures above the average for this time of year.

Wednesday was mild with a high of 60 degrees. It was mostly sunny with partial cloud coverage here and there. St. Patrick’s day will be nearly identical with a high of 59 degrees and a slight breeze. Friday will see temperatures in the high 60s, but don’t expect that to become a trend as a storm heads our way Saturday afternoon. That storm will bring some snow to the Sierra and rain here in the valley, but it’ll be quick moving and should be out of our area by Sunday morning.

Tuesday morning saw some rain, but the storm that caused it was fast moving and is now out of our area. Breezy conditions are sticking around through Tuesday night and temperatures will start to warm up over the next couple of days. St. Patrick’s Day will have a high near 66 degrees and Friday will see temperatures near 70. Then a storm will blow into our area on Saturday and could bring more rain and potentially some snow along the Sierra. It’ll be another fast moving storm and should be out of our area by Sunday morning.

A storm will blow in Monday night into Tuesday morning. Temperatures will decrease, but not a lot with the high for Tuesday at 61 decrees. Rain is expected in the valley, with a small chance after 2 A.M. and an even higher chance later in the morning. The storm should pass through our area by tomorrow afternoon. There could be a bigger storm coming in late this week going into the weekend.
