SPONSORED: Improvements are underway on California Avenue between Arlington Avenue and Newlands Circle. Crews are rehabilitating the roadway now that the Truckee Meadows Water Authority is finished with its water line replacement project. The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County coordinated with TMWA to perform the utility work prior to the RTC rebuilding the roadway. In addition to the road work, the RTC is improving sidewalks and making the area safer and more accessible for people with disabilities.

The RTC keeps an inventory of the condition of our regional roadways to ensure they are maintained in good condition. The roadway in this section of California Avenue has deteriorated and needs to be rehabilitated. While crews fix the road, it’s a great time to improve the sidewalks and increase accessibility.

The RTC continues to encourage the community to use extra caution in and around construction zones. Please watch out for the people who are working to improve the regional roadways. The project is expected to take about two months to complete, and the RTC is working to get as much done as possible before school begins again in the fall. This project represents a $1.8 million investment in our community.
