Vendors & non-profits can join NNBCAS’ annual Juneteenth celebration

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -Non-profits and local vendors can apply to set up at Idlewild Park for the 34th annual Northern Nevada Black Cultural Awareness Society Juneteenth celebration.
It’s set for Sunday June 19 from Noon to 6 p.m. The free event honors the federal holiday and commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. The day also honors Black culture.
Federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and let all enslaved people know they were free. This was two-and-a-half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
