CARSON CITY, Nev. (KOLO) - On Thursday, Governor Steve Sisolak visited the Western Nevada College child development center.

He spent time with the children and got an inside look at the day-to-day routines of staff and educators.

“We are absolutely at full capacity every single day our intake for ouur infant classroom is 8-10 pages long and parents sign up on that waitlist before their even pregnant to get a spot here,” said Annalisa Acosta-Rogers who is the Director at WNC’s child development center.

The visit comes one month after Governor Sisolak’s State of the State Address when he pledged $160 million to help lower childcare costs for parents and support childcare workers

“You know we need to develop and train more folks to be able to handle this, so that folks, the parents, can get back to work and they can get back to their careers and know that their kids are safe all day long,” said Governor Sisolak.

Both the governor and staff at the child development center agree expansion is necessary with the need for affordable and good childcare always in demand.
