RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve was elected second vice president of The United States Conference of Mayors on Friday.

The conference held its executive committee meeting in Washington, D.C.

Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley was elected as 79th president of the organization.

Reno City Council member Neoma Jardon tweeted: “Way to go my friend” on Saturday.

Schieve tweeted congratulations to Whaley, calling her a good friend.

The conference describes itself as the official non-partisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more.
