SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) -Aman who pulled out a handgun and pointed it at a Sparks Police Department officer on May 31 was arrested Thursday, the department said.

The incident happened as the officer was on patrol driving through a parking lot in the 2400 block of Victorian Avenue in west Sparks.

As the officer passed a group of people, one of those in the group drew a handgun and pointed it at the officer, police said. The officer did not see it.

On Thursday, another officer was reviewing surveillance video from an unrelated incident and saw it, police said. Sparks police and the Regional Crime Suppression Unit identified the man pointing the gun as Jonathon Cecil Stroud, 32, and found him and arrested him for aiming a gun at a person, police said.

Police believe they also found the gun Stroud is alleged to have pointed at the officer.

Any other witnesses or anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 775-353-2231.
