Staffing shortage forces suspension of Incline Village to Sand Harbor bus service
STATELINE, Nev. (KOLO) - The Tahoe Transportation District has announced the suspension of the seasonal East Shore Express due to staffing shortages.
The Express carries passengers between Incline Village and Sand Harbor Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. This would have been the ninth year for the service, which helps to reduce parking congestion, traffic, and pollution.
“We’ve never experienced a driver shortage of this magnitude before. We are hoping we can fill the positions with qualified candidates quickly so we can relieve some of the congestion – and all of the issues that come along with it – on this stretch of road as we lean into yet another busy summer season,” said TTD District Manager Carl Hasty in a statement provided to KOLO 8 News Now.
There is a severe shortage of available workers both in Northern Nevada and across the nation. The high cost of living at Lake Tahoe has also made hiring more difficult.
